Butterfinger Pudding Cake Recipe

Now that it's almost summer (or if you're in the south like me, you've already got summer temps - 90+ today!) you'll want this recipe for those fun summer bbqs and picnics!

Butterfinger Pudding Cake Recipe

I had some Butterfinger candy bars in my pantry that I had grabbed on mega sale a while back and knew I wanted to use them to make a dessert for our Lifegroup picnic yesterday. I did a little "Pinteresting" (like Googling but Pinterest. We all do that right?!) and couldn't find a recipe like the one I had in mind.

So what else is there to do but to come up with a unique and super yummy summertime dessert!?

Not only is it delicious, it's also super quick to put together. You'll need to figure in some time for chilling, but the actual hands-on time is very quick.

I like butterscotch, but not in an overpowering way. So this dessert has a very light, subtle flavor of butterscotch. And the Butterfinger bars on top add the perfect crunch to the smooth and yummy pudding and cake deliciousness on the bottom.

I have been watching calories and trying to eat healthier lately, but this cake certainly does not fall into that category. I just closed my eyes while making it ;) We've all got to splurge occasionally right?!

And if you're going to splurge, this is the way to do it!!

Butterfinger Pudding Cake Recipe

Butterfinger Pudding Cake

  • 1 Box Vanilla Cake Mix
  • 1 Sm Box Instant Butterscotch Pudding Mix
  • 1 Sm Box Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
  • 4 Cups Milk
  • 1 Pint Heavy Whipping Cream - Whipped
  • 3 Butterscotch Candy Bars - Chopped
Prepare and bake cake mix according to package directions. Once cake is baked and while still warm, poke holes in the top of cake (space holes approx 1"). I used a large straw to do this. Mix pudding mixes with milk. Before pudding is set, spread on warm cake. Place in fridge immediately and chill for 2 hours. Once cake is chilled, whip the cream. Spread on top of chilled pudding/cake. Sprinkle chopped Butterfinger bars on top of whipped cream layer. Chill until serving. Enjoy!

Happy Baking!
